29 April 2013	The organizing committee of Czech Open 2013 has decided to move the deadline of the 1st entry to May 31st and the deadline of the 2nd entry to July 15th.
28 April 2013	It is with great sadness that the PTT Division learnt of the passing of Margita Homolova on Friday. Margita has long been a member of the PTT family arising out of her work with the Slovak Paralympic Committee. She has been a classifier, secretary to the tournament committee, technical delegate as well as part of the team management for the SPC. There is no doubt that her heart has always been with PTT and the disabled in general and that she committed a large part of her life to this service. Margita has been suffering from cancer for several years but she kept fighting till the end. Many would have seen that she was a TD in 2012 and she was scheduled to be one in 2013. This epitomises Margita, her commitment and her spirit. We convey our deepest condolences to her daughter and family as well as to the Slovak Paralympic Committee and Slovak Table Tennis Association. She will be missed.

25 February 2013	IMPORTANT INFORMATION - CLASSIFICATION CLASS 11 PLAYERS The ITTF PTT Classification Committee has decided on the follow classification possibilities (note that some of these tournaments have to be approved): Eger – Hungary (Europe) Suwon – Korea (Asia) Cairo – Egypt (Africa) Ostrava – Czech Republic (Europe) Only the practical PTT testing will be organised in these 4 tournaments and all new ID players will receive a REVIEW status till the relevant Regional Championships where the computer testing and practical PTT testing will be organised and the status of review players confirmed or changed ! All new players with a review status will be able to take part in all PTT events during 2013 once they have participated in one of the four Fa20 tournaments listed or in the respective regional championships. IMPORTANT, to be accepted for classification, new class 11 players MUST already have been included in the INAS primary eligibility master list and entries must be submitted by the respective national association.

24 December 2012	Following the review of the tournament credit decided in London during the Paralympic Games, the following will be the tournament credit to be achieved in 2013 for players from: Africa, Americas, Asia and Oceania: 40 points plus the regional championships i.e. in the course of 2013, a player must achieve a total of 90 points including the regional championships Europe: 100 points plus the regional championships or 150 points The bonus of 20 points per tournament in each event outside the continent still applies A player must complete either the singles or team event in full or both for the tournament credit to be achieved If a player is injured or sick, the TD must get a medical assessment done by a doctor appointed by him or her Should you have any questions, please contact the Selection Officer.

28 August 2012	The SportBusiness Group announced today that the ITTF is shortlisted for their Sport Marketing 360 Awards. The nomination is on the category of Sport Social Responsibility and the project selected is "Ping Pong Paix" in Burundi and Congo DR which is part of the "Table Tennis for Peace" program held in cooperation with Peace and Sport and supported by Butterfly. Table Tennis for Peace was already launched in Colombia (2009), East Timor (2010) and Burundi-Congo DR (2011) and involved more than 1000 children in disadvantaged situations. "Ping Pong Paix" was inaugurated last December with the visit of the former World Champion Peter Karlsson in 4 impoverished villages with ethnic and tribal conflicts between them, they also suffer a high risk of children being recruited as soldiers. Local coaches were trained by ITTF to deliver weekly classes and keep the children in a safe and healthy environment for their spare time. In March this year, children from those villages were invited by the German Table Tennis Federation to attend the ITTF World Championships in Dortmund, interact with local kids and watch the competition. The allocation of training time will be allocated according to the requests we have received. From 26 to 28 August 2012, each NPC will have 1 hour training in the competition hall itself. On 29 August 2012, due to the Opening Ceremony, a 45 minutes training slot will only take place in the morning. The last bus will leave the ExCeL for the Village on 29 August 2012 at 12h30. 22 July 2012	On the calendar 2013 you will see the tournaments which have applied to host events indicated as factor 20/40. This is because we have for 2013 too many applications for factor 40. The ITTF PTT will make a decision at its committee meeting in London which tournaments will get factor 40 and those not be selected for a factor 40, we will give the option of organising a factor 20 tournament in 2013.

26 January 2012	Classification seminars for 2012 – 2013. Two classification seminars Level A will take place in 2012, during Fa 20 tournaments. These will be in Eger, Hungary in 2/3.2012 and San Diego, USA in 11/12 2012 (please see the calendar for details). Seminars will be facilitated by Juraj Stefak and Sheng Kwang Wu, and the content will consist of medical, technical and ID training. The target group is new candidates who wish to become a Level A classifier, or also as a “refresher” seminar for classifiers who have not been active for a long time. For new candidates it is obligatory to have a medical or technical TT background. For the year 2013 we are considering organising seminars for Level B during the Regional championships but more information will be made available once the plans have been finalised. 25 January 2012	Here are some statistics about participation over last 12 years. Few remarks: Women's participation has slightly increased. 2011 has seen the highest number of players: 1137 for 24 tournaments. This number does not include class 11 players. The impact of 2 year selection cycle over participation is very clear, the year of the Paralympic Games the particpation decreases by 27% to 35%.

The youngest top player amongst women is Karolina Pek (F9) from Poland and she's 13. The 2 youngest male top players are 16: Lian Hao (M10) from China and Ross Wilson (M8) from Great Britain. With the 2012 Paralympic Games in London fast approaching, the attention of players and coaches is drawn to the fact that no medals will be awarded for players who do not participate in at least one match in the whole team event. This means that if a player stays on the bench throughout the team event, he or she will not receive a medal. If, however, he or she competes in one match in the whole team competition and only 1 match, he or she will be eligible to receive a medal. Similarly, no medals will be awarded to coaches. These are the rules applicable to the Paralympic Games. The ITTF is a signatory of the World Anti-Doping Code and as such is obliged to establish a registered testing pool for international level athletes. For the PTT section, 1 player is selected per class for both men and women. Those selected are obliged to submit through ADAMS (an online system which allows daily whereabouts to be recorded) their whereabouts per day per quarter of the year. The ITTF, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the national anti-doping organisation may send a doping control officer to do an out of competition any time on the basis of the whereabouts information submitted. Should a player not be found at the time and place so recorded, they will be investigated so it is important to ensure accurate information is submitted and that it is kept up to date at all times. Please do not wait too long to report errors in preview of the January 2012 ranking list that will be used for London 2012 Paralympic Games selection. Corrections can be made until January 10th included but keep in mind that some errors require time to investigate. Selections will be published on January, 15th.

Thus the PTT Division has approved the following: We will have classification at 2 Fa20 events in 2012 - Hungary and USA All other Fa20 events are open only to those class 11 with a confirmed status (C status) All Fa40 events will be open to class 11 with a C status. If a new class 11 player wishes to enter an event, he or she can only enter for the events in Hungary and USA were classification is available. 6 June 2011	The PTT Division has recently been informed that the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa has not, in fact, approved the inclusion of Para Table Tennis in the programme of the All Africa Games to be held in September 2011 in Maputo, Mozambique. This is obviously a great pity for PTT players in Africa but it should be a call to all associations and NPCs in Africa to work closely with their Ministry of Youth and Sport or equivalent to ensure that the next All Africa Games in 2015 do include PTT as was done in the Games held in Abuja, Nigeria in 2003. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will keep you informed of developments relating to the host for the PTT African Championships.

21 May 2011	The African Table Tennis Federation working closely with the African Paralympic Committee have won the support of the organisers of the 10th All Africa Games who agreed to include Para Table Tennis in the programme. This is a great development and the ITTF PTT Division expresses its gratitude to the ATTF, APC and COJA for their support. As a result, all PTT players should make urgent contact with their national associations and/or National Paralympic Committees to ensure that they are able to submit entries by number to the NOCs for inclusion in the All African Games. As is usual, a minimum number of 6 nations need to participate in the event in order for it to be a full medal event. Obviously entries by name will be done in the normal way by the deadline already announced of 30 June 2011. Classification will be done prior to the start of the PTT event. Classification, for the first time, will include class 11 players (players with intellectual disability). The winners of each singles event per class will automatically be eligible for the 2012 London Paralympic Games. It is therefore important that all players are given the opportunity to qualify and that Africa takes up the full allocation of places for the Paralympic Games. This will also be a Fa50 event and ranking points won will be an important contribution to other players from the continent hopefully be selected for the Paralympic Games. 1 May 2011	The PTT Division is delighted to announce that it was able to consider 2 highly competitive bids to host the 2014 PTT World Championships. After site inspections were done and the reports considered, the ITTF Executive Committee awarded the World Championships to China (see the assessment report). The event will be hosted by the Chinese Table Tennis Association providing the technical support to the NPC of China and the Division looks forward to working with the CTTA and the NPC of China to make these World Championships highly successful for all parties concerned. With just over 3 years to prepare, we hope that the arrangements made will ensure that the event is more player-focused than ever. I would like, on behalf of the PTT Division, to thank both the bids submitted for China and Italy for the high quality bids, for your enthusiasm and commitment to promoting Para Table Tennis and we look forward to working with you both on various projects in the coming years.

15 March 2011	All players who are in class 5 who did not participate in the 2010 ITTF PTT World Championships should ensure that they participate in a Factor 20 event prior to participating in the regional championships. Since the confirmation of the minimum eligibility for sitting players, it has been necessary for all players in class 5 to be reviewed. This would also help you to meet the tournament credit of 80 set for qualification for the Paralympic Games. Should you have any questions, please contact Nico Verspeelt. With about 18 months left to go until the Paralympic Games start in London next year, the IPC and LOCOG have asked the ITTF for assistance to encourage all players hoping to get to London to complete an online questionnaire which collects information for their biographies. The IPC and LOCOG have appointed Infostrada and they are now starting to research the biographies using various tools, one of which is an online questionnaire, which they ask athletes to fill in. Obviously it is in our players’ interest to complete the biography as fully and accurately as possible as this will greatly assist the media as well as help generate more excitement in the lead up to the Games. We ask all players to complete this online questionnaire as soon as possible.

2 January 2011	List of players who have been selected randomly to be part of the registered doping testing pool for 2011. The ITTF is a signatory of the World Anti-Doping Code and as such is obliged to establish a registered testing pool for international level athletes. For the PTT section, 1 player is selected per class for both men and women. Those selected are obliged to submit through ADAMS (an online system which allows daily whereabouts to be recorded) their whereabouts per day per quarter of the year. The ITTF, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the national anti-doping organisation may send a doping control officer to do an out of competition any time on the basis of the whereabouts information submitted. Should a player not be found at the time and place so recorded, they will be investigated so it is important to ensure accurate information is submitted and that it is kept up to date at all times. This RTP is for the calendar year 2011. Changes may be made in preparation for 2012 and the Paralympic Games.

It is with great sadness that the PTT Division learnt of the passing of Margita Homolova on Friday. Margita has long been a member of the PTT family arising out of her work with the Slovak Paralympic Committee. She has been a classifier, secretary to the tournament committee, technical delegate as well as part of the team management for the SPC. There is no doubt that her heart has always been with PTT and the disabled in general and that she committed a large part of her life to this service.

Margita has been suffering from cancer for several years but she kept fighting till the end. Many would have seen that she was a TD in 2012 and she was scheduled to be one in 2013. This epitomises Margita, her commitment and her spirit.

We convey our deepest condolences to her daughter and family as well as to the Slovak Paralympic Committee and Slovak Table Tennis Association.

She will be missed.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION - CLASSIFICATION CLASS 11 PLAYERS

The ITTF PTT Classification Committee has decided on the follow classification possibilities (note that some of these tournaments have to be approved):

Eger – Hungary (Europe)
Suwon – Korea (Asia)
Cairo – Egypt (Africa)
Ostrava – Czech Republic (Europe)

Only the practical PTT testing will be organised in these 4 tournaments and all new ID players will receive a REVIEW status till the relevant Regional Championships where the computer testing and practical PTT testing will be organised and the status of review players confirmed or changed !

All new players with a review status will be able to take part in all PTT events during 2013 once they have participated in one of the four Fa20 tournaments listed or in the respective regional championships.

IMPORTANT, to be accepted for classification, new class 11 players MUST already have been included in the INAS primary eligibility master list and entries must be submitted by the respective national association.

Following the review of the tournament credit decided in London during the Paralympic Games, the following will be the tournament credit to be achieved in 2013 for players from:

Africa, Americas, Asia and Oceania: 40 points plus the regional championships i.e. in the course of 2013, a player must achieve a total of 90 points including the regional championships
Europe: 100 points plus the regional championships or 150 points
The bonus of 20 points per tournament in each event outside the continent still applies
A player must complete either the singles or team event in full or both for the tournament credit to be achieved
If a player is injured or sick, the TD must get a medical assessment done by a doctor appointed by him or her

The SportBusiness Group announced today that the ITTF is shortlisted for their Sport Marketing 360 Awards. The nomination is on the category of Sport Social Responsibility and the project selected is "Ping Pong Paix" in Burundi and Congo DR which is part of the "Table Tennis for Peace" program held in cooperation with Peace and Sport and supported by Butterfly. Table Tennis for Peace was already launched in Colombia (2009), East Timor (2010) and Burundi-Congo DR (2011) and involved more than 1000 children in disadvantaged situations. "Ping Pong Paix" was inaugurated last December with the visit of the former World Champion Peter Karlsson in 4 impoverished villages with ethnic and tribal conflicts between them, they also suffer a high risk of children being recruited as soldiers. Local coaches were trained by ITTF to deliver weekly classes and keep the children in a safe and healthy environment for their spare time. In March this year, children from those villages were invited by the German Table Tennis Federation to attend the ITTF World Championships in Dortmund, interact with local kids and watch the competition. Each NPC will be allowed to train at the ExCeL for 1 hour during the morning and/or evening session from 23 to 28 August 2012. The allocation of training time will be allocated according to the requests we have received.
From 26 to 28 August 2012, each NPC will have 1 hour training in the competition hall itself.
On 29 August 2012, due to the Opening Ceremony, a 45 minutes training slot will only take place in the morning. The last bus will leave the ExCeL for the Village on 29 August 2012 at 12h30.
Please find attached the training schedule. Please keep to the schedule and respect the times allocated to you and to other NPCs.

On the calendar 2013 you will see the tournaments which have applied to host events indicated as factor 20/40. This is because we have for 2013 too many applications for factor 40. The ITTF PTT will make a decision at its committee meeting in London which tournaments will get factor 40 and those not be selected for a factor 40, we will give the option of organising a factor 20 tournament in 2013.

In Budapest meeting, the Division resolved to implement a tournament credit of 130 (including Fa50, 40 and 20 events) for the 2014 world championships to be achieved over 24 months starting 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2013 provided that a bonus of 20 points would be allocated for each event in which a player competed outside his or her continent.

Classification seminars for 2012 – 2013.

Two classification seminars Level A will take place in 2012, during Fa 20 tournaments. These will be in Eger, Hungary in 2/3.2012 and San Diego, USA in 11/12 2012 (please see the calendar for details).

Seminars will be facilitated by Juraj Stefak and Sheng Kwang Wu, and the content will consist of medical, technical and ID training.

The target group is new candidates who wish to become a Level A classifier, or also as a “refresher” seminar for classifiers who have not been active for a long time. For new candidates it is obligatory to have a medical or technical TT background.

For the year 2013 we are considering organising seminars for Level B during the Regional championships but more information will be made available once the plans have been finalised.

Here are some statistics about participation over last 12 years. Few remarks:

Women's participation has slightly increased.
2011 has seen the highest number of players: 1137 for 24 tournaments. This number does not include class 11 players.
The impact of 2 year selection cycle over participation is very clear, the year of the Paralympic Games the particpation decreases by 27% to 35%.

A player asked for some statistics about age of top players, so here they are. I took the top 8 per class except for F1 that I combined with F2. The youngest top player amongst women is Karolina Pek (F9) from Poland and she's 13. The 2 youngest male top players are 16: Lian Hao (M10) from China and Ross Wilson (M8) from Great Britain.

With the 2012 Paralympic Games in London fast approaching, the attention of players and coaches is drawn to the fact that no medals will be awarded for players who do not participate in at least one match in the whole team event. This means that if a player stays on the bench throughout the team event, he or she will not receive a medal. If, however, he or she competes in one match in the whole team competition and only 1 match, he or she will be eligible to receive a medal. Similarly, no medals will be awarded to coaches. These are the rules applicable to the Paralympic Games.
The ITTF is a signatory of the World Anti-Doping Code and as such is obliged to establish a registered testing pool for international level athletes. For the PTT section, 1 player is selected per class for both men and women. Those selected are obliged to submit through ADAMS (an online system which allows daily whereabouts to be recorded) their whereabouts per day per quarter of the year. The ITTF, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the national anti-doping organisation may send a doping control officer to do an out of competition any time on the basis of the whereabouts information submitted. Should a player not be found at the time and place so recorded, they will be investigated so it is important to ensure accurate information is submitted and that it is kept up to date at all times.
Please do not wait too long to report errors in preview of the January 2012 ranking list that will be used for London 2012 Paralympic Games selection. Corrections can be made until January 10th included but keep in mind that some errors require time to investigate. Selections will be published on January, 15th.

With the inclusion of class 11 players during the course of 2011, we have considered the best way to continue the process in the lead up to the Paralympic Games to be held in London in 2012. Thus the PTT Division has approved the following:

We will have classification at 2 Fa20 events in 2012 - Hungary and USA
All other Fa20 events are open only to those class 11 with a confirmed status (C status)
All Fa40 events will be open to class 11 with a C status.
If a new class 11 player wishes to enter an event, he or she can only enter for the events in Hungary and USA were classification is available.

The PTT Division has recently been informed that the Supreme Council for Sport in Africa has not, in fact, approved the inclusion of Para Table Tennis in the programme of the All Africa Games to be held in September 2011 in Maputo, Mozambique. This is obviously a great pity for PTT players in Africa but it should be a call to all associations and NPCs in Africa to work closely with their Ministry of Youth and Sport or equivalent to ensure that the next All Africa Games in 2015 do include PTT as was done in the Games held in Abuja, Nigeria in 2003.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will keep you informed of developments relating to the host for the PTT African Championships.

For the 4 regional championships (Africa [Mozambique], Europe, Americas [Mexico] and Asia-Oceania), all national associations and NPCs are asked to note that for class 11, the following is required:

The class 11 players who have not yet been classified will be required to undergo classification during the regional championships (note that there will be an opportunity for classification during the INAS Global Games and the requirements below will also apply)
In order for the entry of a class 11 player to be accepted, he or she will have to be registered on the INAS eligibility list for table tennis
In order for this to happen, the player will have to complete some tests (in line with the World Health Organisation) at a national level and the results will need to be sent to INAS for checking and then the player will be included in the eligibility list

The African Table Tennis Federation working closely with the African Paralympic Committee have won the support of the organisers of the 10th All Africa Games who agreed to include Para Table Tennis in the programme. This is a great development and the ITTF PTT Division expresses its gratitude to the ATTF, APC and COJA for their support.

As a result, all PTT players should make urgent contact with their national associations and/or National Paralympic Committees to ensure that they are able to submit entries by number to the NOCs for inclusion in the All African Games. As is usual, a minimum number of 6 nations need to participate in the event in order for it to be a full medal event. Obviously entries by name will be done in the normal way by the deadline already announced of 30 June 2011.

Classification will be done prior to the start of the PTT event. Classification, for the first time, will include class 11 players (players with intellectual disability).

The winners of each singles event per class will automatically be eligible for the 2012 London Paralympic Games. It is therefore important that all players are given the opportunity to qualify and that Africa takes up the full allocation of places for the Paralympic Games. This will also be a Fa50 event and ranking points won will be an important contribution to other players from the continent hopefully be selected for the Paralympic Games.

The PTT Division is delighted to announce that it was able to consider 2 highly competitive bids to host the 2014 PTT World Championships. After site inspections were done and the reports considered, the ITTF Executive Committee awarded the World Championships to China (see the assessment report). The event will be hosted by the Chinese Table Tennis Association providing the technical support to the NPC of China and the Division looks forward to working with the CTTA and the NPC of China to make these World Championships highly successful for all parties concerned. With just over 3 years to prepare, we hope that the arrangements made will ensure that the event is more player-focused than ever.
I would like, on behalf of the PTT Division, to thank both the bids submitted for China and Italy for the high quality bids, for your enthusiasm and commitment to promoting Para Table Tennis and we look forward to working with you both on various projects in the coming years.

As part of the integration process, the relevant parts of the ITTF PTT Handbook have now been consolidated in directives outlining the regulations for PTT tournaments which are different from the requirements outlined in the ITTF Handbook chapters 3 and 4 which will be updated after the ITTF Board of Directors’ meeting to be held on 12 May 2011. Here are the players ratings for April 2011. This new rating system was presented first in Gwangju 2010. It will be running in parallel of current ranking system for 2011; this will help players to get familiar with it and give us some months to propose further adjustments.
In January 2012 (after London 2012 Paralympic Games selections), the rating system will replace the current ranking system.

All players who are in class 5 who did not participate in the 2010 ITTF PTT World Championships should ensure that they participate in a Factor 20 event prior to participating in the regional championships. Since the confirmation of the minimum eligibility for sitting players, it has been necessary for all players in class 5 to be reviewed. This would also help you to meet the tournament credit of 80 set for qualification for the Paralympic Games. Should you have any questions, please contact Nico Verspeelt.
With about 18 months left to go until the Paralympic Games start in London next year, the IPC and LOCOG have asked the ITTF for assistance to encourage all players hoping to get to London to complete an online questionnaire which collects information for their biographies. The IPC and LOCOG have appointed Infostrada and they are now starting to research the biographies using various tools, one of which is an online questionnaire, which they ask athletes to fill in.
Obviously it is in our players’ interest to complete the biography as fully and accurately as possible as this will greatly assist the media as well as help generate more excitement in the lead up to the Games. We ask all players to complete this online questionnaire as soon as possible.

A template for the prospectus (general information) which requires certain information unique to each tournament to be included
The first entry (entry by number) form
The second entry (entry by name) form
The tournament indemnity form which must be included by each team member prior to participating in any tournament

List of players who have been selected randomly to be part of the registered doping testing pool for 2011.
The ITTF is a signatory of the World Anti-Doping Code and as such is obliged to establish a registered testing pool for international level athletes. For the PTT section, 1 player is selected per class for both men and women. Those selected are obliged to submit through ADAMS (an online system which allows daily whereabouts to be recorded) their whereabouts per day per quarter of the year. The ITTF, the World Anti-Doping Agency and the national anti-doping organisation may send a doping control officer to do an out of competition any time on the basis of the whereabouts information submitted. Should a player not be found at the time and place so recorded, they will be investigated so it is important to ensure accurate information is submitted and that it is kept up to date at all times.
This RTP is for the calendar year 2011. Changes may be made in preparation for 2012 and the Paralympic Games.
