Selection officer Nico Verspeelt has updated the general informations about the 2010 World Championships and the selection process. The changes are highlighted in yellow; the most important ones are the date change and 2 additional slots for women.

This the updated report of the Players' meetings in Slovakia, Slovenia and Romania. It is quite obvious that over recent months a large number of players have voiced their concern over a number of new regulations that have been implemented this year in 2009.
As a result Vincent Boury, the Athletes Representative has sent this letter to the ITTF-ParaTT Executive Committee with the aim of organizing a meeting with them in Genoa.

Two notes about the applications to the 2011 Regional Championships:

Information, 1st entry form and 2nd entry form of the 1st Gwangju-Korea International Para Table Tennis Championships.

During the four Regional Championships, the single events will be played in Round Robin (first stage) and KO (second stage). We will as we normally do play priority of groups of three players (meaning there could be four players in some groups). The two best players from each group will go through to 2nd KO stage.

In the Slovakia Open, a group of players held a meeting and setup 2 petitions about new service rule and KO system in team event. Here is the report of the results of that meeting. Feel free to download the petitions if you have not signed them and return them to athlete's representative Vincent Boury. There was also a meeting in Slovenia and an updated report of the results there will follow. There will also be one in Romania.

ELECTIONS - NEW PARA TABLE TENNIS DIVISION

During the Annual General Meeting in Yokohama, Japan April 30th, the new Para Table Tennis Division was elected. The Division is elected for the next 2 years, until the A.G.M. in Rotterdam, Netherlands May 2011. 8 "full members", 6 "corresponding members" and 1 "advisor" were elected. Here is the detailed list.

The "old Table Tennis Committee" and the "new Para Table Tennis Division" will meet in Genova, Italy during the European Championships June 2009. In this "Division meeting" very important items on the agenda will be to define working areas, responsibilities, meeting rights, voting rights etc for each elected person. Other items on the agenda will be decided until May 15th.

During the Championships in Genova, Italy an informal meeting with the European nations will be organized June 10th, the "free day" of the Championships.

An important announce from tournament officer Jiri Danek and chairman Øivind Eriksen:

Dear Organizers of our new Fa 20 tournaments in the first year of the New Structure. We hope it will be the tournaments of new quality for the participants.

During test year of the new structure, we have identified some points to improve and we hope, in 2010, we will have only smaller problems remaining that we will fix for year 2011.

Two substantial changes worth noting:

In the synoptic calendar for 2010, you will see the proposed dates of 10 rounds of Fa 20 tournaments: we will play Fa 20 and Fa 40 tournaments during all year round except two months (September and October 2010).

  1. The World Ranking List for the seeding of World Championships 2010 is moved to October 1st, 2010
  2. In September and October 2010 we will play only World Championships 2010

In this Synoptic Calendar, there are only playing days of the tournaments Fa 20 in 2010. If you are interested in organizing a Fa 20 tournament in 2010, please choose some possible dates there, fill in the application form of Fa 20 for 2010 and send it to us before the deadline of the Applications – April 30th, 2009.

Added 1st Gwangju-Korea International Para Table Tennis Championships to calendar. It will be the test event for the World Championships' organizing committee.

Since World Championships are going to have KO system for teams, as per 2.3.2.3.6.1.5 of the Rules and Regulations the upcoming Regional Championships must use the KO system for teams also.

Two imporant notes (Chinese translation) from selection officer Nico Verspeelt:

Only players who have been classified and have an International Classification Card by the date of the second entry deadline can enter a Fa 40 tournament in 2009. Thus there will only be classifiers observing at Fa 40 events this year.

In order to be considered for selection for the 2010 ITTF PTT World Championships, players must have an international classification, be on the ranking list and have achieved the tournament credit of 20 points. To achieve the tournament credit of 20 points, each player must have competed in a tournament of Fa 20 or Fa 40 between 1 October 2008 and 31 December 2009. Please note that no tournament credit points can be accumulated by participating to the regional championships.
