ASCOD support for Africa/Middle-East TT Championships

 

The IPC Table Tennis Africa-Middle East Championships will be held in Johannesburg, South Africa from 1 - 8 September 2003. Due to the withdrawal of Jordan as the host, South Africa has stepped in at the last minute to ensure that the players from the two regions are not compromised in terms of qualification for the Paralympic Games.

The African Sports Confederation for Disabled (ASCOD) has kindly agreed to support the participation of nations from the African continent by contributing US$50,00 per player participating in the Championships from the following nations:

Benin , Burkina Faso , Burundi , Cape Verde , Cameroon , Central African Republic , Chad , Congo , Cote d'Ivoire , Ethiopia , Gambia , Ghana , Guinea-Bissau , Guinea Rep. , Kenya , Lesotho , Madagascar , Mali , Mauritania , Mozambique , Namibia , Niger , Rwanda , Sao.Tome e Principe , Senegal , Sierra Leone , Sudan , Tanzania , Togo , Uganda , Zambia , Zimbabwe .

This grant is conditional on the nation being a member in good standing in the IPC and having paid the annual membership fee to ASCOD. The nations will be refunded the amount of money after the Championships by ASCOD once their participation has been confirmed by the organising committee.
